Overview[]
The Dao Lord is the 12th level of cultivation. A person must open a new 12th Fate Palace.[2]
When a cultivator reaches the Dao Lord realm, they are able to grow a Primordial Tree and Dao Fruits. Dao Lords can produce more Dao Fruits to strengthen their power.
Dao Lord is the highest known Cultivation Level in the Eight Desolates and Six Heavenly Continents and is its strongest existence. Nonetheless, there was only one Dao Lord in each generation in the Eight Desolates. The suitable Heirs should fight over it and the last one standing would be the new Dao Lord.[?] Effort and luck alone weren’t always enough.[3] An exception from this rule was a pair of Dao Lords, husband and wife,[4] but it is not yet known, what condition must be met in order to achieve this.
In history, top experts and peerless geniuses traveled towards this goal. In the end, only one would find success. This path was filled with thorny briars and unknowns. Most would die horrific death and become paving bones for the future winner.[3]
Stages[]

Once the Dao Lord realm is reached and the first dao fruit is obtained. The Cultivator cultivates more until there are 12 dao fruits.
- First In the road of the dao lord level: At this stage a twelve Dao fruits, on the road of the dao lord is just a Small Perfection.
- Second In the road of the dao lord level: At this stage a Once the immortal body (Perfect Vessel) is fully cultivated, on the road of the dao lord is just a Medium Perfection.
- Third In the road of the dao lord level: At this stage a Cultivator reaches the realm of True Self and grows the True Self Tree, on the road of the dao lord is just a Half-Big level.
When there are 12 dao fruits, (Not always such that one could reach True Self without multiple Dao Fruits or a Primordial Dao Fruit.) the Cultivator gains an "Immortal Body" and can cultivate it. Once the immortal body (Perfect Vessel) is fully cultivated. The Cultivator reaches the realm of True Self (Anima) and grows the True Self Tree. If you don't get the immortal body, it is impossible to born true self, let alone seek longevity and immortality.The size of the tree determines the strength of the cultivator. The growth of the True Self Tree has several stages:
- First In the Small level: At this stage a birth of the True Self Tree.(Or what is also called True Self)
- Second In the Medium level: At this stage a growth of the True Self Tree, up to 3,000 feet. (Or what is also called Ancestors)
- Third In the Big level: At this stage a formation of the Tree's canopy after reaching the max height.(Or what is also called Supreme Giant)
After this, you step over the canopy and enter the threshold of the peak, which is called the half-step peak.
Requirements to become an Dao Lord[]
- Each Dao Lord is extraordinary and amazing in their own way; they are always the most excellent in their generation. However, their excellency is not based on talent, origin, Merit Laws, weapons, powerful protectors; all of this does not guarantee a spot of Dao Lord.[3] If cultivator don't have the courage to persist, to never give up, all of their prior advantages are useless. Firm Dao Heart is necessary to withstand all obstacles and resist all temptations.[6] One must personally experience countless challenges, battles, and walk over corpses of their opponents.
- In order to become a dao lord, one needed to create their own Grand Dao. Otherwise, using someone else’s merit laws - regardless of how powerful - would still render the practitioner inferior to those in the past.[7][8]
The Ascension Trial of A Dao Lord[]
- "An omen of legends" The ones in the myth were extremely dangerous. Even Dao Lords have died to them before., after the Myriad Dao Era, they would only appear during the ascension trial of a Dao Lord. The probability of one happening is minuscule as well.[9]
Dao Lord weapons[]
They can create Dao Lord Weapons, the highest ranked of which are called Patrimony Weapons. Sects, countries or nations with the legacies of Dao Lords are called Inheritances.
Dao Lord weapon[]
Normally, any weapon created by a Dao Lord is called a Dao Lord weapon. The method, type, and materials don't matter. A Dao Lord weapon could represent thirty to forty percent of its creator’s power. Under normal circumstances, anyone weaker than the Myriad-Form Sanctity Realm wouldn’t be able to use a Heaven-grade weapon.[10]
Patrimony weapons[]
Patrimony weapon Dao Lord Weapons are Dao Lord Weapon which have been personally were also made by dao lords. The key difference was their rarity. Dao lords could craft dozens of weapons in their lifetime. However, they would normally only have one patrimony weapon since it required an absurd amount of resources and effort. They normally left behind regular weapons for their sect and clan. This wasn’t the case for the patrimony weapons. Only a few dao lords would actually do so. Perhaps they found something stronger or it might be due to other reasons.
Paragon Artifacts[]
Paragon Artifact (重器: Ultimate Tool), is a weapon created under certain conditions by an Dao Lord at least.[10] Crafting one required great effort and a heavy price More than a Patrimony Weapons. Paragon Artifacts are more powerful than Patrimony Weapons.
Might[]
Strength flowed into the forehead of the Dao Lord.
The power of a Dao Lord erupts as he is became engulfed in a golden radiance. However, the brightest thing loomed in the mind of a Dao Lord. That there was a tiny tree with one Dao fruit hanging on a branch.
Creating a golden avatar and Dao fruit was the process of a Dao Lord. Heavenly Sovereigns didn’t have their own Dao fruit.
Even if a dao lord died, a dao lord's obsession remained along with some fighting potential. This was because of the dao fruit.[11]
Differences between Emperor and Immortals[]
Of all living beings, perhaps these emperor are the closest to immortals. In fact, the distance between them and immortals is farther than the distance between mortals and emperors, at least, mortals might become Dao Lord through accidental creation, but it is impossible for emperor to become immortals, at least until now, I haven't heard of any Immortal Emperor, Grand Emperor, True Emperor, Dao Lord of had become an immortals.[12]
First Dao Lord[]
Li Qiye, who created the whole cultivation system, can be seen as the first Dao Lord.[1]
The first Dao Lords after him proved their Dao after the Primordial Start, when Li Qiye's Primordial Tree appeared. This period of thirty thousand years became known as the Resplendent Age.[13] Two Dao Lords are mentioned without names or titles, the second one of them having a diamond-like body riding his sword. After the disappearance of the Primordial Tree enough time passed for most people to forget about it, which implies the existence of further Dao Lords and Immortal Emperors. Zhan Xian is mentioned to have a Dao Fruit, while also having won the competition for the Heaven's Will. She became the last Immortal Emperor before Li Qiye's War in the World of Death.[14]
The first Dao Lord of the Eight Desolates Epoch was Duck’s Egg Buyer.
Name and Title[]
Dao Lords are mainly known by their titles. Even Li Qiye, the creator of the epoch, would always refer to them by their full titles with inclusion of the Dao Lord rank in their titles. This shows how much prestige and respect Dao Lords command just from reaching the realm alone, even epoch lords would not dare to underestimate them.[11]
There are some Dao Lords, which are known without the inclusion of the Dao Lord rank in their titles. These include:

It is unknown how long a Dao Lord can rule to either die or be killed.

The duo couldn’t disagree with this. There had been plenty of hegemons in the past, being praised as the lords of Eight Desolaces. However, most have been forgotten.
As for dao lords, it didn’t matter what they did. They could be alone or start a sect. They could lay low or exert their authority. Either way, in the long future, their brilliance and tales still wouldn’t be forgotten. This was one of the reasons why so many wanted to become a dao lord.[15]
Death[]
Dao Lords can live for a long time, and no one knows for sure how their lives ends. Only few Dao Lords are known to be dead for sure:
- Scarlet Moon Dao Lord - He eventually died to the Black Tides; his vitality, blood, and grand dao were taken by the receding tides.[16]
- Worldbearer Dao Lord - He died shortly after became Dao Lord.[17]
During the Era of the Blessed, prosperity could be found everywhere. Very few dao lords died during their Ascension.[18]
In truth, Dao Lords rarely die in the Eight Desolates, they disapper because they ascend to the Six Heavenly Continents. Some of them die in the process of ascension, and it is unknown, how many Dao Lords successfully ascended and are still alive in the Six Heavenly Continents, but the following Dao Lords are confirmed to have died there due to different reasons.
- Eight Stallion - He died against Conceal Conqueror in Chaotic Continent.[19]
- Three Truths - He died against Celestial Court and Ancient Clan in Upper Two Continents[20] In the end, he was killed by Godcloud Conqueror.[21]
- Righteous - He died against his partner Certainly Immortal in Upper Two Continents.[22]
- Skylight: He died against Young Ephemeral Immortal.[23]
- Myriad Eyes - He died against Ye Fantian in Upper Two Continents.[24]
- Dao Flame Dual Lords - They died of old age in Ancient Immortal Continent.[25]
- Starshooter: He died against Gu Guo in Ancient Immortal Continent.

— Li Qiye spoke this line, He explained to Qing Shi that there was no difference between a True Immortal and a devil or fiend who took the Dao Lord as an example.[note 7].[103] - One could certainly view the dao lords as Butchers since a conquest was necessary to reach the peak. - Ascension is the lifelong pursuit of many. This was the reason why people wanted to become a Dao lord. It was so that they could see the legendary world above. Unfortunately, those who weren’t Dao lords would find going up there prohibitively difficult.[104]
- Normally, the most important thing to become a dao lord is actually the dao heart.[6]
- In order to become a Dao lord, one needed to create their own Grand Dao. Otherwise, using someone else’s merit laws - regardless of how powerful - would still render the practitioner inferior to those in the past.[7]
- Whether the Heaven's Will is necessary to become a Dao Lord is also not yet known.
- In the Eight Desolates Epoch, it can be assumed that the Heaven's Will does not exist, as this is Li Qiye's epoch.

But a dao lord with twelve Dao fruits, on the road of the dao lord is just a small perfection. After the twelve fruits, one must cast a immortal body, which is the only way to the true self. If you don't get the immortal body, it is impossible to born real self, let alone seek longevity and immortality.
- Dao Lords are the similar to Conquerors in Six Heavenly Continents, and can be said different name version of them in Eight Desolates.[105]
